Chronology of cameras Chinon
Starting in 1986, ChiNo marketed two ranges of cameras. Those with names ending in "1" were autofocus cameras, offering sometimes innovative features. The Auto G series provided simpler and more affordable models.

The first Chinon Auto GL dates back to March 1988. The Chinon Auto GL II appeared in the catalog in 1992, whereas the first model had disappeared the previous year.
It is noted that the second model was slightly more expensive in 1992 than the first model was in the summer of 1991. However, according to the catalog descriptions, the second model seems to be slightly less advanced than the first: the Auto GL featured an underexposure warning signal and a shutter lock when the lens cover was not open. But since the description is very brief, no definitive conclusion can be drawn on this point.
Undeniably, there was a design evolution to follow the trend towards more rounded shapes.
